'Scoring' with Maturity Models(MM) from my last post and blog. Honestly, no one gets a 5! Most companies are in the 2.5 range and aspire to get to 3.5 – 4. There are many types of MM’s used in business today. E.g. Progression, capability and hybrid - I like Hybrid. We’ve done MM’s with OCM, DAM, E-comm, Retail CX and Marketing Ops. MM's really shine when you make it visual, add a color schema or graphics… this helps tell the story and quickly connect different audiences to understand what is going on. If done right, you can get an organization to understand where they are in the model and what attributes they need to check off to get to the next level.
Some brands have taken their MM’s to another level where they will form teams… a Purple belt or Green belt working on achieving that next level e.g. Six Sigma black belt.
As the new normal starts to mature, we all are forced to innovate. We are seeing a tremendous amount of activity with CPG / FMCG … readying themselves for Mobile purchases. Modernize and win on the digital shelf. .
